How to bond silicone to silicone?

Almost every engineer who works with silicone has run into the same headache—silicone is notoriously hard to bond. And there's a hard reason for it: silicone has an extremely low surface energy (around 20–24 mN/m) and is chemically inert. It's "non-stick" by nature. Most adhesives simply peel or slide right off.
Here are 3 proven approaches that cover the vast majority of real cases, from high-volume production to precision small-part assembly
Option 1: Heat-Cure Silicone Adhesive KL-301G(ABC)
How it works:
1. KL-301G(ABC) mixing weight ratio A:B:C=10:10:1. The adhesive is added by weight ratio and requires thorough mixture.
2. Preheat the silicone rubber bonding areas a while before applying on the mixed adhesives KL-301G(ABC).
3. Heating at temperature 170°C for around 15 seconds.
Best for: FDA-compiant. suitable for gaskets, lunch-box sealing rings, and sealing rings in appliances and electronics—anywhere that needs durable, long-term sealing.
Option 2: RTV-1 Room-Temperature Silicone Adhesive KN-300X
How it works:
1, Cleaning material surface for bonding.
2, Coating adhesive thickness≤1 mm
3, At least 30 minutes pressing, the adhesive is cured completely after 24 hours at room temperature.
Best for: Medical-grade and FDA-compliant, suitable for food- and medical-contact applications. Such as medical devices, baby/food-contact silicone parts, and any bond with high safety and compliance demands.
Option 3: α-cyanoacrylate Silicone Instant Glue
How it works:
1、Cleaning the substrate surface with toluene. Or sanding the substrate surface .
2、Brushing silicone primer (K770) on the silicone surface, Drying at room temperature for 5 minutes.
3、Gluing the instant adhesive as appropriate on the bonding surface,then pressing a few seconds.
Best for: Small-area bonding, precision small-part assembly, silicone keypads, and repairs etc.
