Why does fog form during the curing process of UV adhesive?

To answer this question, we first need to understand the basic composition of UV adhesives. UV adhesives are composed of polyurethane acrylate, monomers, initiators, and additives.
Generally, these components have flash points above 100 degrees Celsius, classifying them as non-flammable and non-explosive substances. However, under high-temperature baking, some components will slowly volatilize.
If the temperature suddenly becomes very high, some white mist can be seen evaporating.
During the curing process of UV adhesives, two factors lead to the generation of a large amount of heat: first, the heat from the light source itself, especially mercury lamps, where the temperature reaching the UV adhesive surface can exceed 120 degrees Celsius.
Second, the chemical reaction during the curing process releases a large amount of heat. The combination of these two factors concentrates the heat, causing trace amounts of UV adhesive components to volatilize.
Although these volatilized substances are in very small quantities, they are theoretically still harmful to humans and the environment.
Furthermore, if the fumes deposit on point or surface light sources, forming a thin film at the light guide end or lamp head surface, these films will reduce the light intensity on the cured surface.
Therefore, we need to enhance ventilation in the curing unit, such as by adding a suction hood, to remove the evaporated mist. The thin film formed at the end of the light guide or on the surface of the lamp head needs to be cleaned regularly.
