What glue is used to stick PVC firmly
18 Aug 2025
PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is widely used in pipes, panels, decorative parts, and other applications due to its chemical resistance, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
When bonding PVC, it's important to select the appropriate adhesive based on the specific application, operating environment, and bond strength requirements.
I. Types and Characteristics
Solvent-Based PVC Adhesive:
Features: Uses an organic solvent as a medium to dissolve PVC resin or other polymer materials to form an adhesive. It offers the advantages of fast drying and high bond strength, but may contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), so proper ventilation is required during use.
Applications: Suitable for bonding PVC pipes, sheets, films, etc.
Water-Based PVC Adhesive:
Features: Uses water as a dispersion medium, is environmentally friendly and non-toxic, and meets modern green production requirements. However, it dries relatively slowly and has certain requirements for the application environment.
Applications: Widely used in environmentally sensitive applications such as food packaging and medical devices.
Reactive PVC Adhesive:
Features: Bonds through a chemical reaction, resulting in extremely high bond strength and durability. However, the application process is relatively complex and requires precise control of reaction conditions.
Applications: Suitable for applications requiring extremely high bond strength, such as automotive manufacturing and aerospace.
Hot-Melt PVC Adhesive:
Features: Melts and flows under heating and solidifies upon cooling to form a bond. It offers the advantages of fast bonding and high efficiency, but requires a relatively high equipment investment. Applications: Suitable for rapid bonding on automated production lines, such as in the packaging industry.
