What adhesive can bond aluminum and silicone? How do I use the adhesive to bond
01 Aug 2025
Because aluminum is heat-resistant, a wide range of adhesives can bond it. Suitable adhesives for bonding aluminum and silicone include quick-drying adhesives, slow-drying adhesives, low-temperature platinum-cured (liquid silicone) adhesives, and high-temperature-cured adhesives.
The specific type of adhesive to choose depends on the material and process provided by the customer. As for how to use aluminum and silicone adhesive, let's use the high-temperature-cured adhesive (red) CL-24W as an example:
1. First, perform surface preparation. Chemically treat the materials to be bonded with alcohol.
2. Apply adhesive. Apply CL-24W adhesive evenly to the aluminum surface by brush.
3. Then, allow to dry at room temperature for at least 2 hours (no baking is required), or bake at or above 180°C for 15 minutes.
4. Vulcanize. The first-stage vulcanization process depends on the vulcanization conditions of the adhesive; second-stage vulcanization should not exceed 250°C.
It is important to note that bonding should be completed as soon as possible after application, ideally on the same day. Storage for no more than 5 days is recommended, provided it is protected from contamination and exposure to high temperatures and humidity.
