What additives are used in UV curing adhesives?
24 Apr 2025
The main additives of UV curing adhesives include stabilizers, leveling agents, defoamers, plasticizers and coupling agents, etc. Their main functions are: ① Improve the production process of adhesives; ② Improve the storage stability of adhesives; ③ Improve the construction performance of adhesives; ④ Improve the performance of adhesive films, etc.
1. Stabilizer
The stabilizer is used to reduce polymerization during storage and improve the storage stability of the resin.
2. Leveling
The leveling agent is used to improve the leveling performance of the resin, prevent the occurrence of coating defects such as shrinkage cavities and pinholes, make the coating smooth, and improve the gloss.
3. Defoamer
The defoamer is used to prevent and eliminate the generation of bubbles in the coating during the manufacturing and use process, and prevent the coating from producing defects such as pinholes.
4. Plasticizer
The role of plasticizer is to weaken the force between polymer molecules, thereby improving the flexibility of the glue, relaxing internal stress, and thus improving the impact strength of the glue; reducing the softening temperature and glass transition temperature of the glue film, improving low temperature resistance; reducing the viscosity of the polymer, increasing its fluidity, thereby increasing the wetting of the glue on the bonding surface and improving the bonding strength of the joint.
5. Coupling agent
Coupling agent is a kind of substance with amphoteric structure. Some groups in their molecules can react with chemical groups on the surface of inorganic substances to form strong chemical bonds; the other groups have the property of being organic-friendly and can react or physically entangle with organic molecules, thereby firmly combining two materials of different properties.
