The main uses of pressure-sensitive adhesive

14 Oct 2025

Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) is an adhesive that bonds tightly to adhered surfaces with gentle pressure. It requires no solvents, cures quickly, and is reusable. Its core applications are diverse, covering a wide range of sectors, including industrial, consumer, medical, and electronics. The following are key applications and descriptions:
1. Packaging and Labeling
Daily Packaging: Used for sealing cartons, plastic bags, and food packaging, such as express box seals and self-adhesive tabs on snack packaging.
Labels and Stickers:
Product Labels (price tags, brand logos).
Office Labels (document classification, sticky notes).
Specialty Labels (anti-counterfeiting labels, high-temperature resistant labels).
Advantages: Moderate adhesion, can be applied by hand or machine, and offers low cost and high efficiency.
2. Tapes and Adhesive Products
Industrial Tapes:
Double-sided tape (for securing electronic components and automotive interiors).
Foam Tape (for cushioning and shock absorption, such as sealing mobile phone frames).
Aluminum Foil Tape (for pipe insulation and electromagnetic shielding). Consumer Tapes:
Transparent Tape (for office and home repairs).
Masking Tape (for decoration masking and painting assistance).
Cloth-Based Tape (for heavy-duty packaging and carpet securing).
Advantages: Strong adhesion, excellent weather resistance, and adaptability to various surface materials.
3. Medical and Hygiene Products
Medical Tape:
Surgical dressing securing (breathable, hypoallergenic).
Band-Aids and IV Patches (waterproof, easy to tear).
Hygiene Products:
Edge bonding for diapers and sanitary napkins (prevents side leakage).
Mask ear strap securing (comfortable and non-irritating).
Advantages: Excellent biocompatibility and compliance with medical safety standards.
4. Electronics and Electrical Industry
Component Fixing:
Bonding batteries, circuit boards, and housings (anti-vibration and thermal conductivity).
Precision positioning of camera modules and sensors.
Shielding and Conductive Applications:
Electromagnetic shielding tape (reduces signal interference).
Conductive tape (circuit connection and grounding). Advantages: High-temperature resistance, excellent insulation, and adaptable to miniaturization needs.
5. Construction and Decoration
Sealing and Waterproofing:
Door and window seals (dustproof and soundproof).
Roofing waterproofing membranes (UV-resistant and aging-resistant).
Surface Protection:
Floor protection film (scratch-resistant during renovation).
Temporary fixing of glass curtain walls (during the construction phase).
Advantages: Highly weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor environments.
6. Automotive and Transportation
Interior Bonding:
Roof trim and carpet fixing (vibration and noise reduction).
Dashboard and door panel trim bonding.
Exterior Applications:
Logo and taillight bonding (vibration-resistant and high-temperature resistant).
Windshield sealing (waterproof and air leakage-proof).
Advantages: High-temperature and impact-resistant, meeting automotive industry standards.
7. Footwear and Apparel
Footwear Manufacturing:
Bonding soles and uppers (flexible and washable).
Hook-and-loop fastening for decorative parts. Garment Accessories:
Label and tag bonding (washable, non-detachable).
Functional fabric lamination (such as waterproof and breathable membranes).
Advantages: Flexibility, environmentally friendly, and non-toxic.
8. Core Advantages of Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives:
Instant tack: No heat or solvents are required; simply apply pressure to bond.
Wide Adaptability: Can bond a variety of materials, including metal, plastic, glass, and paper.
Environmental Benefits: Water-based or hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives reduce VOC emissions.
Cost-Effectiveness: High production efficiency, suitable for large-scale automated production.

9. Recommended Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives
AB Glass Protective Film Adhesive KL-9310B is a heat-curing, rapid-curing, addition-type liquid silicone rubber adhesive.

For use with Platinum Water P4000, tackifiers KL-298, and KL-6600, it requires no primer and exhibits excellent flowability before curing.

After curing, it exhibits excellent adhesion to PET substrates, excellent gas-release properties, high transparency, no adhesive residue, and resistance to high temperatures and humidity.

It can directly replace similar products from Dow Corning and KCC and is suitable for mobile phone tempered glass screen protectors and PET silicone protective films.
