Silicone's inherent properties: Pure silicone has a slightly rough feel and easily attracts dust, which is why many products require a post-treatment coating of a feel oil to improve the texture.
Ⅰ.What is silicone feel oil? How does it change the sticky feel?
Silicone soft touch coating(also known as silicone matte oil or silicone varnish) is a two-component ink coating specifically designed for the surface of silicone products.
It forms a thin film (usually polyurethane, silicone resin, or acrylic coating) on the silicone surface through spraying or dipping, thereby changing the feel, gloss, and functionality.
Working principle: Silicone feel oil uses vinyl-terminated polymethylsiloxane as a base resin, with silica powder and MQ resin added for reinforcement, which enhances the coating strength without affecting light transmittance.
After spraying, it is cured by high-temperature or low-temperature vulcanization technology, forming a thin but tough protective film on the silicone surface. Core Functions:
• Eliminates stickiness: Forms an insulating layer on the silicone surface, preventing direct contact between hand sweat, oil, and the silicone substrate.
• Enhances smoothness: Gives silicone products a delicate, smooth, and velvety feel.
• Dustproof and antistatic: Reduces static electricity and dust adsorption.
• Wear-resistant protection: Improves surface wear resistance and extends product lifespan.
Ⅱ.What effects will the silicone feel oil achieve after curing?
After application using standard procedures, the silicone feel oil coating can achieve the following properties:
• Adhesion: 5B grade (cross-cut test), the coating is tightly bonded to the silicone.
• Abrasion Resistance: 28 times/20μm or more in the RCA paper tape abrasion test.
• Feel: Smooth and delicate, eliminating stickiness.
• Appearance: Glossy, matte, or frosted finishes are available upon request.
