How to bond silicone tube

It is necessary to choose the right adhesive for silicone tube bonding. The following are common bonding glues and operation points:

1. Special Silicone Glue Bonding
Applicable Applications: Bonding silicone tubing, silicone seals, and silicone strips.
Common Glue Types:

High-Temperature-Resistant Heat-Vulcanized Silicone Glue KL-301

Features: This heat-vulcanized silicone glue is suitable for bonding silicone molded parts at temperatures between 170°C and 190°C. The bonded parts have passed high-temperature resistance testing.

Precautions:

Beware of silicone adhesive poisoning. During the vulcanization process, contact with compounds containing sulfur, tin, arsenic, phosphorus, nitrogen, or lead is strictly prohibited, as this will cause poor curing of the adhesive. Therefore, compatibility testing of the silicone rubber with the substrate should be performed before use.

II. Hot Vulcanization Bonding

Applicable Applications: Industrial piping, high-pressure seals, and other applications requiring high strength and high-temperature resistance.

Principle: High temperature (150-200°C) and pressure are used to chemically cross-link the silicone tubing with the bonding surface.

Processing Steps:

Surface Treatment: Sand the bonding surface with sandpaper to increase roughness.

Apply a vulcanizing agent (such as a silane coupling agent) to enhance adhesion.

Assembly: Insert the silicone tubing into the bonding area and secure with a clamp.

Vulcanization: Place the tubing in a vulcanizer or oven and vulcanize at the set temperature and time (usually 1-2 hours).

Advantages: High bond strength, high temperature resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance.

Disadvantages: Requires specialized equipment, complex operation, and high cost.

III. Handling Precautions
Surface Cleaning: Before bonding, thoroughly clean the surface to avoid oil and dust that may affect the bonding effect.
Control the amount of glue: Too much glue will cause overflow, while too little will result in a weak bond.
Curing Environment: Maintain good ventilation and avoid high temperatures or humidity that may affect the curing process.
Testing and Verification: After bonding, perform a pressure test or tensile test to ensure sealing and strength.
In summary: There are many methods for bonding silicone tubing, and the method should be selected based on specific needs. Kanglibang hot-vulcanizing adhesive is recommended.
