How to bond silicone products with 3M double-sided tape

The steps for bonding silicone products with 3M double-sided tape are as follows:

Surface Cleaning
Use alcohol or a specialized cleaner to thoroughly remove oil, dust, and impurities from the silicone surface, ensuring the surface is dry and clean. This step is crucial for improving bond strength; residual contaminants can significantly reduce the tape's adhesion.
Applying Silicone Treatment Agent
To enhance the release properties of silicone, pre-treat the bonding surface with a specialized treatment agent (such as Kanglibang CL-14A series). Apply the treatment agent evenly and let it sit for 1-3 minutes until the surface is tack-free. This will form a chemical activation layer that strengthens the molecular bond between the tape and the silicone.
Applying 3M Double-Sided Tape
Select a 3M tape compatible with silicone and firmly apply the tape to the treated silicone surface. It is recommended to use a roller to apply even pressure to ensure the adhesive layer fully wets the contact surface and prevent air bubbles from remaining and affecting the bonding. Curing and Strength Improvement
After bonding, allow the adhesive to rest for 3-5 hours until the bond strength reaches 70%-80%. Full curing takes 24 hours, maintaining an ambient temperature between 21-38°C. Low temperatures will prolong the curing time, and initial temperatures below 10°C may affect bond strength.

Kanglibang CL-14 is a fast-drying primer suitable for bonding silicone rubber to 3M self-adhesive or double-sided tape. Apply it to the silicone rubber surface and wait for it to dry before applying the self-adhesive or double-sided tape. This ensures a firm bond.
It is primarily used for products such as silicone rubber foot pads and silicone accessories.
Precautions:

Environmental Control: The primer is volatile and irritating. Handle in a well-ventilated environment and avoid inhalation or skin contact.
Pressure Selection: Kanglibang primer CL-14A, designed specifically for silicone rubber, is preferred.
Pressure Application: Apply steady pressure during bonding to ensure full contact between the adhesive layer and the silicone surface. This can be achieved by rolling or applying pressure with a heavy object.
Temperature Management: Maintain a stable ambient temperature during the curing phase. Low temperatures will significantly slow the curing process, requiring a longer rest period.
